Ultra Combo! Play Killer Instinct and KI2 in MAME

ATTENTION: If anyone from RARE/Midway/Nintendo contacts me I will remove this

for hardware owners, and for those who love KI and KI2 but have no means
to play the game otherwise.

Use 7-Zip to Extract the Archive to a Folder (7-Zip - Link to Website)
32-Bit Windows? Run MAMEUI32.EXE
64-Bit Windows? Run MAMEUI64.EXE

KI and KI2 - A MAME Glitch and How to Avoid (Only affects attract mode)

When you launch a game, the intro sounds will be "out of sync" due to the emulated power on self-test.
Press the minus or plus key on your keyboard (not the number pad!) to access KI volume control.
Press Space Bar

Now you will be in attract mode with all of the sounds properly synced exactly like the arcade upright!

The (2) non-working (Xs) are normal - those upgrade kit ROMs have never worked.

The "technical" explanation: Emulating the 'upgrade kit' means software emulating the hard drive
controller that is already present on physical KI2 hardware. The non-upgrade kit ROMs work
100% and there are no gameplay differences to the kit ROMs whatsoever.
